Preschool
The Preschool section is comprised of three year groups:
Nursery 1 (ages 2,5- 3)
Nursery 2 (ages 3-4)
Reception (ages 4-5)
Each group has maximum 14 students and 2 teachers.
What Makes us Special?
At the British International School of the University of Lodz we base our teaching and learning delivery on a play- based curriculum using the EYFS (The Early Years Foundation Stage) framework with the addition of other foreign language learning, such as Spanish.
Our children explore the world through variable activities such as:
- Exploring different languages: English, Polish & Spanish
- Sports: swimming, dancing, yoga, gymnastics
- Art: drawing, painting, modeling, marbling
- Trips: museums, theatres, cinemas, art galleries, experymentarium

Understanding the World
Through songs and games children learn about the physical world, community, places, technology and the environment.
Creative Development and Music
Children are allowed to express themselves through a variety of activities in art, music and movement. We regularly prepare shows where children have the chance to get involved in acting, singing and dancing to celebrate different international festivals. Children are exposed to classical music while having a rest/ napping, eating their snacks and playing.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
We help children develop a positive sense of themselves, form positive relationships, develop respect for others, understand appropriate behaviour in groups and develop social skills.
Numeracy
We develop children’s skills in counting, understanding and using numbers, measures. We also teach them numbers and to understand them. Children start simple addition and subtraction through playing and singing.
Literacy
We develop children’s knowledge about the written world through Jolly Phonics where using the TPR method (Total Physical Response ) children, in a natural for them way — singing and showing, get to know the sounds of the English language. They begin to form them in sand, play-dough, on magic boards, and later on blend them to start their own reading. Children have access to a wide range of reading materials (books, poems etc. ) where we develop their own interest in literature.
Communication and Language
Children are given opportunities to experience a rich language environment in order to help them express their own feelings and communicate with others. In Foundation playing underpins the learning and all aspects of children’s development. Through play, the children develop language, put new ideas into practice, take risks, show their great imagination and learn how to live in a group.
